Online Meetings
Traditionally, conferences are held in hotels meeting rooms or convention centers. That is no longer always the case. Utilizing today’s technology, conferences can be held without anyone leaving their base of operation.
What makes up a good online meeting? Many of the same features as a face-to-face meeting, with the added challenge of IT equipment. Check your video stream and sound before the conference begins. Your meeting depends on web conferencing links so check twice.
Time constraints do not change merely because no one has to travel. Remind presenters to be aware of the time and pace themselves accordingly. Meetings should take place within normal business hours, allowing for difference in time zones.
Focus. Establish an agenda for the conference and stick to it. Someone must be in charge and move the meeting along. Keep it positive. As in all business matters, praise should be public, criticism private. Even if the purpose of the meeting is a bit grim, stay as positive as possible.
Relax and schedule breaks if the conference takes more than a few hours. People will need to have a cup of coffee or answer nature’s call or just stretch their legs from time to time.
Online meetings can work well and be affordable with great equipment and a plan.
