Not Ready For a Cruise? Are You Sure?
One of the most common questions meeting planners and event planners get at some point is: should we book a cruise ship for our next event? A cruise meeting is sort of corporate equivalent of a rite of passage in a way, but it can be surprisingly affordable. Here’s how to tell if a cruise meeting or cruise event might be a good idea:
- Your current annual meetings/events are seeing reduced attendance – If your once sold-out conferences and seminar sessions are starting to see dwindling attendance, there could be a reason. Could that reason be that participants would rather spend their money in another way? Perhaps in a company with more lively meeting and/or event formats?
- Once loyal customers are leaving or making noises about leaving – Large corporate accounts need to be wooed, plain and simple. Nothing woos customers like exotic destinations, pampering, and maybe a few rounds of golf a week in different courses in different countries.
- Salespeople and critical employees are jumping ship – Critical employees are also finding opportunities at other companies, some of which have great incentive programs. Could your employees be bored with Las Vegas or wherever you hold your current meetings/events? Is the once-fun excursion now more of a chore than an escape from the daily grind? If so, consider a cruise.
