Incentive Travel Destination: The Spa
If you are an incentive planner, you know the importance of finding just the right trip arrangements for your high-profile clients. If you are not an incentive planner and have been asked to book such a trip, you may be wondering how to approach the event and still save your client some money in these hard economic times. Here is one answer: the spa.
Your client is very likely sending some very important people on this destination, and you need to be ready to make it pleasant and fulfilling. The spa trip can often accomplish that and more by focusing on relaxation instead of activities, wellness instead of extravagance, and rejuvenation instead of pampering. The goal is to have your client’s travelers come away feeling better and ready to take on the world again rather than go home exhausted from a trip full of going here and there.
Of course, you will likely be looking for a place away from the town where the travelers live and work, but that should be easy to find. Almost every town has a great selection of spas where a participant can get away from his or her “same old town” and see a different environment, different people, and yet feel protected from the stress of the outside world for awhile.
And what about the cost? The economy and recent public image of companies that provide incentive travel have made it important for businesses to save money on such trips. If the public thinks that an organization is spending too much money, the company’s image will drop considerably in a short time.
Spas know this, and some are offering package deals and other inclusive options. As a planner, this means that you can choose a number of spa treatments, food and beverage, and any other appropriate activities and know exactly what it will cost in the end. In the end, your client’s travelers will be able to wash away the cares of the horrible economy, your client will not necessarily be paying through the nose for it, and they will all have you to thank.
