Good Relationships are Key to Successful Events

Producing successful events requires ongoing communication and interaction between the meeting planner and the client, the vendors, venue managers. With many companies limited travel and meeting budgets, it is more important than ever to stay engaged with your clients through personal interaction.

  • It's not all business – address your client's hobbies and interests, know the person.
  • Send handwritten notes, especially thank you notes when appropriate
  • Little things count -personalized gifts don't have to be extravagant.  It's the small gestures that let your client know you appreciate them.
  • Keep the momentum up – if your intent is really to build relationships, the friendship will last. You may not call or write every week, but some sort of communication should happen at least once per quarter.  It may be a birthday card or greeting, or an email about something you know they will be interested in.

Even though these ideas may seem old fashioned, they still work to create a close bond that is typically necessary to produce successful meetings and events.
