Glam and Glitter – The Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria, New Orleans

By admin

Katrina may have huffed and puffed and blown the house down, but it only took five years and $145 million in renovations for the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria in New Orleans to make her grand comeback.

Twenty-foot ceilings traverse the expanse of an entire city block and the gilded hallways provide a home for the hotel’s original grand piano and 19th century Parisian antique clock near the entrance. The hotel is back and beautiful in all of her glory and you can almost hear the echoes of hot jazz from greats such as Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Cab Calloway.

For event planners, the hotel’s famous Blue Room provides 5,500-square feet of space and a maximum capacity of 400 people. Like the rest of the hotel, the room’s grandeur is exemplified by six original chandeliers, royal blue carpet and lush curtains that billow across the stage.

The property is home to 504 rooms and a total of almost 60,000-square feet of meeting space. This includes three ballrooms and 23 breakout spaces and boardrooms. Nearly all of the meeting spaces are decorated with the same style of architecture and interior design that is inherent to the overall opulence of this beautiful southern belle. The Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria is back and is sending out her invitations with open arms.
