Creating an Event Theme
These days lots of organizations are scared. From the quilting groups to the major corporation, if you are planning an event for them you may need to find a theme that reflects courage and strength for the coming years. Here are some quick ideas to get you started.
“Coming Back Strong”
If a company has downsized, the event may have a sort of dampened spirit about it. You can pick it up with ideas of strength and purpose. How about getting some people from a talent agency to dress up as superheroes and act as conference guides? You could have speakers that were war veterans who may have a message about bravery and courage. You could even have a body builder as a warm up act to introduce the CEO speaker.
“Staying in the Game”
If the company has managed to skid by without downsizing or taking a hit–or handout–they should congratulate themselves. Comedians are often a great way to emphasize the fact that the economic and political climate has not hurt the company–and who better to make fun of politician and economic conditions than a good comedian?
Of course some companies have thrived in this mess of late, and still others have made some unusual changes to their processes and operations to stay on top of things. You could spend an hour talking to them and end up with enough ideas for the entire event. You just have to take the time to ask them.
