Augmenting All-Inclusive Options

By admin

When trying to decide whether to handle all of the planning for a meeting and/or event, many event planners fall into the trap of believing that there are only two extremes: all-inclusive and handling every little detail on their own. While it is true that there are many offerings at both extremes, it is often possible to find ways to blend the two when neither works well. Here are some ideas to get the ball rolling:

Leverage – Remember that with quantity comes leverage, and quantity can be measured both initially and over time. If an all-inclusive package needs a little tweaking and the concierge/salesperson seems reluctant to budge on price when items are removed, consider asking them for something above and beyond. They might be willing to accommodate if they feel that something is in it for their business, so make sure that they understand the value proposition clearly.

Ask for a manager – Sometime salespeople and representatives on the bottom of the corporate ladder do not have the leeway to make changes. Instead of asking them questions to which they already know the answer, ask them for someone else that might have more leeway to meet your requests.

Ask for help – Most people have an earnest desire to assist customers. Play on this and present your requests as a problem that you and the other party will solve together as a team.
